Goa is synonymous with fun and this fun increases manifold during Goa Carnival which is celebrated every year in the month of February. The Goa Carnival has its roots in the Portuguese tradition and it was introduced to Goa about 500 years ago.This festival is all about feasting, enjoyment and merry-making. Huge processions encompassing bands, entertainers with colourful masks, dancers are taken out on the streets of Panjim. In fact all major streets of Goa come alive with colours. The last day of the festival is marked with the popular Red and Black ball dance held at Clube National in Panjim.
Great music performances by the local and national level artists, several stalls offering lip-smacking food and beverages are the other highlights of the festival. It is the most awaited festival of Goa where people come from across the globe to delve into its colours and fun!
